Enjoying Sports on your Deck- It’s Time to Throw a Party!
Can you believe we are already nearing the end of April and the start of may? Our favorite Major League Baseball teams already have started there season (and if your a Phillies fan your probably already over the season). Which means that it is time to invite your friends over and throw a sports party on your deck. just because your favorite team may not be preforming up to standers does not mean that you cant be enjoying sports on your deck.
With baseball having an early start to the season, not everyone could have enjoyed the luxuries of hosting an outdoor party on their deck, but now that it seems the cold weather has passed, it’s the is the perfect time to invite your friends over to celebrate the 2015 season.
Enjoying sports on your deck, like baseball, is actually pretty easy. There are few things more American than a good game on the television, the grill cooking up some serious eats and maybe an apple pie waiting for desert. In order for you to throw the ultimate Opening Day bash, here are a few things you’ll need:
- A television: Of course you need a TV so you can tune in to watch your favorite team take on its opponent, and hopefully win! you don’t even necessarily need to have the TV outside, you can open a window or slide door. Also you don’t necessarily even need a TV, with today’s technology, you can watch the games on your Ipads or even your phones!
- A grill: Honestly, you could throw a deck party without one, but why would you? Spring is the perfect time of year to fire up the grill, be it gas or charcoal, and to toss on some ballgame treats like hot dogs, bratwurst or even some hamburgers. Want some great sides to bring in the flavors of the ball game? Consider taking it a step further and using your grill for making some popcorn or heating up some in-shell peanuts for your guests? make sure you have these products available for when the inevitable spill happens.
- Drinks: If you’re going to have adults and children at your Opening Day party, consider having their drinks separate. You could put out two tubs with ice, one with soda and water marked “rookies” and another with adult beverages marked “old timers,” or even “minor league” and “major league.”
- Comfortable seats: Every deck should have some comfortable seating, but it’s extra important when you’re watching a baseball game. The typical game spans several hours in the modern era, so having a seat that you’re comfortable in for a long stretch of time is key. Try these DIY seating projects to really impress your guests!
To get the most out of enjoying sports on your deck, the most important ingredient is, of course, is family and friends. And don’t forget the seventh-inning stretch and a rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” for a traditional baseball experience.
