How to Clean a Deck
You’re here because you want to know how to clean a deck. Below you’ll find “How to Clean a Deck in 10 Easy Steps.” But before we get there, we want to clarify a few things:
How to clean a deck is very different than restoring your PVC deck to its original luster and shine. This post reflects how to clean a deck – any deck – properly. However, if you’d like to restore your PVC deck, try the E2 PVC Revitilizer. The cleaner will NOT replace the Revitilizer treatment, so don’t assume you’ll get the same results with a cleaner. Don’t even bother trying…
For heavily soiled decks, use the DeckMAX Deck Cleaner. The Pro-Grade Cleaner Concentrate is industrial strength and comes in a concentrated formula that makes up to 6 gallons of cleaner. This highly concentrated cleaner makes enough to clean up to 2000 square feet.
Use this cleaner on all deck types: PVC (vinyl) decks, composite decks, and wood decks. It’s versatile enough that it can also be used for many areas around your home including vinyl siding, metal, aluminum, flagstones, pavers, etc.
How to Clean a Deck in 10 Easy Steps:
- Order the DeckMAX Pro-Grade Cleaner. The cleaner is a surfactant, a powerful cleaner soap that will clean any heavily soiled decks, including grease, grime, mold and mildew.
- Gather the necessary recommended supplies, like mop, bucket, etc. to clean the deck.
- Move furniture, plants, and outdoor accessories off the deck. The deck should be bare before you start cleaning.
- Use an outdoor broom and start sweeping. Sweep away all leaves, loose dirt, pine needles, food and other debris. If needed, dig between the slats to loosen up caked on muck.
- Grab the deck cleaner and read the label to determine how much you’ll need for your deck size. Fill the bucket with water, add deck cleaner and mix it.
- If you have a power washer, use that. If not, start with the heavily soiled areas and scrub.
- Continue cleaning the deck. Take your time to wash thoroughly.
- When finished, rinse off and allow to completely dry.
- When dry, return all the furniture, plants, and outdoor accessories.
- Grab a beer, fire up the grill, and enjoy the rest of the deck season!
Deck cleaning is done once or twice (if the area has heavy traffic) per year. If you feel you need to RESTORE A DECK, then skip steps 9 and 10 until you use the E2 Revitilizer Solution. Basic housekeeping like this will keep your deck in good condition for a long time.
