BBQ Fun: Outdoor Yard Games
After you finished cleaning and restoring your deck… it’s time to show it off!
Summer is upon us and that means more grilling, family barbeques, and parties with friends. Don’t be a boring host or hostess! Add flair to your party with a game or two to your backyard. Check out some cool outdoor yard games that will bring your friends back for more yard fun!
Jenga is one of the most well loved games and has always been popular. But what if you made it on a bigger scale? Instead of using little 3 inch wooden blocks, cut 2×4’s into 10 inch sanded-down pieces and use them instead. How much fun would your friends and family have with this! Get creative and paint the ends with a colored theme (Fourth of July, summer colors, spring colors, or your favorite football or futbol team) or leave it natural.
Who wouldn’t love playing bowling in the backyard? You can easily make your own backyard bowling set up by using empty water bottles with decoration on them and a ball. If the wind is strong that day, add rocks or water to the bottles so they will stay upright. Keep in mind that you will need a heavier ball to knock them down.
If you really want to Wow! your guests, make the runway out of wooden boards put together to get the feel of really being at a bowling alley. But if you are on a tighter budget, use what you have like your cement drive way or porch! Use boards to line the alleyway for the ball.
We showed this one before. It’s one of our favorites just because it’s so simple to create AND it’s great for every age. Be as creative as you want with this simple DIY project. Paint it fun bug colors, or simple colors to match your deck’s decor.
Everyone loves a good game of Scrabble, so for your Scrabble fans, why not play it outdoors! You can get creative by using wooden plaques with letters on them and pavers to create your own board. You can also get the same effect by using cardboard pieces. Go to local stores and ask if they are throwing out any cardboard boxes and cut them into 10×10 inch squares and paint letters on them. Use the ground for your board with yard spray paint indicting double and triple letter scores.
Grab a bunch of pool noodles from the dollar store or pool supply store and plenty of duct tape. Make a bunch of different obstacles for kids and adults.
This summer, get creative and add fun to your backyard as well as great food! Clean and restore your deck or patio before the fun begins.
