Easy Seasonal Deck Decorations For The Holidays
Holiday decorations aren’t just for indoors… take it outdoors to your deck as well! You can make your house stand out with these two basic ways to get seasonal deck decorations.
1) Lighting
Hang holiday lights anywhere on a deck with some DIY work. According to The Family Handyman website, “try using plastic picnic tablecloth clips to attach Christmas lights to your deck railing.” This makes it easy to decorate and take down lights.
Get a little more sophisticated by wrapping artificial or real holiday garland with white lights. Then wrap your railing with the garland. Make sure to tape down any cords that might be around walking areas!
2) Containers
If you want to “spruce up” your deck with some greenery, then the first place to start is containers.
Containers are great year round for decorating decks. For the holidays, try placing pine or spruce greenery in something like an urn, decorative bucket or pot, or even a wooden box. Also put in some pinecones, dried floral, and/or small branches to add interest. You can even spray paint the pinecones and branches gold or white for a holiday feel if you want.
Another container idea is using hanging baskets featuring seasonal greenery and colors. You can use stems of dried berries or fruit in these. Another trick is to light them with wireless lights or LED lighting.
All of these ideas are found in detail on sites like Pinterest.
