There is nothing like having an old-fashioned, family get-together outdoors. There is always great food, conversation and fun to be had by all. This is especially the case with all the Spring and Summer holidays; and when there are multi-generational games on hand.
So with that said, here’s a look at DeckMAX’s four favorite, game inspired, backyard entertainment ideas:
1.) Lawn Checkers
One of our favorite backyard games is lawn checkers. Perhaps you’ve seen several versions of the yard game on Pinterest. Some people opt to use colored pavers to make the checkerboard. Others recommend using burlap or a giant tarp. Either way, the game is a lot of fun to play.
2.) Lawn Jenga
Another outdoor game and backyard entertainment idea that we adore is Lawn Jenga. There are simple instructions for making your own game pieces posted on The Home Depot’s site. And you can find lots of pictures of people playing the game on Pinterest. If you do decide to create the game, make sure that you also invest in a container to hold the 72 wooden game pieces. Good options are portable coolers, plastic crates and large laundry bags.
3.) Lawn Yahtzee
If your family enjoys playing games indoors with dice, they are going to love Lawn Yahtzee. It’s played just like the traditional game. Only this time you’ll be using large, wooden dice. There are a lot of different crafters and boutique stores that sell readymade lawn dice. You could also grab some routed cubes from the local lumber store and make your own. The choice is yours.
4) Tic Tac Toe
The Painted Rock Tic-Tac-Toe Game is great for every age group. Gather 10 smooth rocks. Paint 5 like lady bugs and the other 5 like bumble bees. Smooth out an old tree stump and paint a Tic-Tac-Toe grid on it in black. This ensures hours of fun for kids, parents, and grandparents!
Clean-Up Before the Backyard Entertainment Begins
Now that you have a few outdoor or backyard entertainment ideas to get you started, don’t forget about spring cleaning. You’ll have family and friends over, so it’s worth it to get your deck in great shape. If you find that it’s faded or weathered, check out a product like the E2 PVC Deck Revitilizer. It’ll bring back the luster and shine just like new.
Have a heavily soiled deck? We suggest the Pro-Grade Pre-Treatment Deck Cleaner great on PVC, Composite, Wood, or Metal decks to remove stains, scuffs, minor scratches, even grease from the BBQ’s, and mold and mildew.
