Seasonal Deck Decorations for Christmas and Beyond
The right decorations will make your deck feel festive any time of the year. While Christmas decorations are nice, they aren’t necessarily useful once the holiday is over with. Here are some seasonal deck decorations that can be used to celebrate Christmas, yet can remain throughout the winter to give your deck a warm, inviting look.
Using elements from nature can give your deck a bright look during the winter. Some ideas to use include:
- A pinecone wreath with sprigs of colorful artificial flowers
- Grapevines wrapped with evergreen branches and strands of winter berries
- Wicker baskets full of spray painted pinecones placed on tabletops
- Flower urns with evergreen branches and artificial red apples tucked into them
- Window boxes filled with artificial ferns and fruit
- A brightly painted wooden sled and ice skates propped along one corner
- Beaded or colored glass candle holders
Lighting

The right lighting can also make your outdoor deck appear more cheerful. You don’t have to take up the Christmas lights completely; however, they shouldn’t be used in excess either. A few strands of miniature lights around the rails or awning of your deck will give it a warmer feeling without appearing too overwhelming.
Winter is also an excellent time to make use of oil lanterns. To spice things up a bit, use colored oil, or add a little bit of liquid candle dye to it instead. Colored light sticks placed in strategic areas are also a nice touch.
Incorporate a few of these ideas now, and your deck will remain festive throughout the winter without the need to redecorate it after Christmas. For even more amazing deck ideas and inspiration, please follow our Pinterest page.
