It’s finally fall, and there’s no better time to enjoy some seasonal deck decorations than in autumn. Pumpkins and gourds make ideal decorations, because they are inexpensive and readily available this time of year. Here are a few ideas for decorating with pumpkins and gourds that anyone can use.
Candleholders
Cut out the top of tiny pumpkins or gourds, and then place tea lights inside them. Arrange several together to make a centerpiece for your table, or line the railing of your deck with them to help eliminate dark shadows and prevent falls.
Wagon Display
Place a large pumpkin in the center of a wooden wagon. Arrange several smaller pumpkins or gourds around it, and throw in some Indian corn, miniature hay bales, pine cones and acorns. String bittersweet or strands of artificial colored leaves around the wagon and stick it in a corner of your deck next to some corn stalks or a scarecrow.
Spray Painted Pumpkins
For a more glamorous effect, spray paint pumpkins gold or silver. Wrap with red, orange or yellow tinsel or strands of miniature Christmas lights. You could even cut the top off of your spray-painted pumpkins and use them as a container to hold some colorful mums.
Basket Full of Pumpkins
Place pumpkins in varying sizes inside a bushel basket. Stick a few sprigs of autumn leaves or flowers among them for visual interest. Sit this basket next to a rocking chair or porch swing that has a warm woven throw draped gently over the back of it.
Fill See-Through Containers
Fill see-through containers such as glass jars or wire baskets with gourds and pumpkins. Tie a bow around your container with burlap, and then sit these containers on your stairs, patio table, or railing.
These are just a few seasonal deck decorations with seasonal elements such as gourds and pumpkins. Before you can do some autumn decorating, you’ll need to have the right deck installed, which is why now is the right time to contact us.
