Fall Feast On The Deck: Grilling Fish
Columbus Day Grilling!
Grilling Fish
When the brisk cool air settles in for the fall season, you might think your fun evenings out on the deck have come to an end. However, just because people aren’t inviting friends over for hot dogs from the grill with watermelon and a game of horseshoes doesn’t mean your outdoor cooking season has to come to an end.
Fall is the perfect season for grilling fish and DeckMAX wants you to enjoy this Columbus Day even more with family, friends, and fish! Most fish cook up fast and easy on a grill. The intense heat is perfect for searing the outside of the fish to crispy perfection and leaving the inside juicy and perfectly cooked.
Types of Fish
If you’re cooking tuna, swordfish, salmon or halibut you can cook them directly on the grill, coating the fish with oil first so they don’t stick. If you are cooking with a more delicate fish like flounder, tilapia or sole you can cook them inside aluminum foil packet to keep them from falling apart.
Tips for Grilling Fish
A crucial key to cooking fish on your grill is to make sure the pieces of fish you are grilling have a fairly uniform thickness, otherwise your fish will be overdone in the thin parts and still raw in the thick parts. Try to only flip your fish one time and flip it gently. When your fish is perfectly cooked the meat will flake away easily with no parts looking translucent. A little lemon and butter are great additions to a perfectly grilled fish feast in the fall.
