How to Remove Stubborn Scuffs and Unsightly Scratches from a PVC Deck
The neighborhood weekend barbecue is set to be held at your house. You’ve bought the best steaks from the local butcher and the wife has made her hands down, best darn potato salad in the world for the occasion. Now there is only one thing left to contend with, cleaning that dingy PVC deck. One look outside and you can’t help but wonder aloud, “How the heck am I supposed to remove scuffs and scratches from a PVC deck without causing more damage?”
Don’t worry my backyard barbecue loving friend. It’s actually much easier than it seems. Most PVC deck manufacturers are more than willing to provide a list of recommended deck cleaning products and suggestions. Take TimberTech as an example. They suggest using DeckMAX to handle stubborn scratches and stains from their XLM ® decking. Pretty impressive, if you ask me!
In our experience, DeckMAX products are actually safe to use on all PVC decking. To safely and effectively clean a heavily soiled deck, grab a bottle of concentrated, professional grade, pre-treatment deck cleaner from DeckMAX. You’ll also need a pair of non-PVC coated rubber gloves, a microfiber mop, mop cover, rectangular cleaning bucket and a microfiber cloth. Next, clear any debris from the deck. Then mix up the pre-treatment cleaning solution and apply it to the deck. It will take care of the scuffs as well as any stains, mold and mildew that may be present. Then wait 48 hours.
If you’re deck is not heavily soiled (or once the 48 hours has elapsed), treat the entire deck with E2 PVC Deck Revitilizer. It will take care of any minor scratches and color fading that may be presence. Afterward, your PVC deck will be ready to host all those folks jonesing to sample your steaks and the wife’s famous potato salad. Be sure to take a picture and send them to us!
